Update 6/5/2023 (4:30 p.m.): The Cherokee Nation Election Commission certifies 2023 General Election Results, giving Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner another four-year term after receiving more than 62% of the vote.

The Cherokee Nation is announcing preliminary results for its general election.

The polls closed on Saturday and early results show Incumbent Chief Chuck Hoskin Junior and Incumbent Deputy Chief Brian Warner winning with more than 60 percent of the vote.

That is enough that they will not need to hold a runoff election.

It does appear there will be runoffs for several of the Tribal Council positions.

The election results still need to be certified by the tribal election commission.

News On 6 will have the final results when they are certified, as well as any details on upcoming runoff elections.
