Claremore Mayor Bill Flanagan Dies From Longstanding Illness

Claremore Mayor Bill Flanagan died on Wednesday according to City officials.

City officials posted that Flanagan had been dealing with a longstanding illness. He had served as mayor since 2013.

"For the past decade, Mayor Flanagan helped transform Claremore into the vibrant community we are today, driving responsible growth and business-friendly policies that created quality jobs for our community," said the city in a post on Facebook.

Deputy Mayor Herb McSpadden will serve until Mayor-elect Debbie Long takes office on May 1.
