Another Oklahoma Sooner football great passed away on Saturday.

Former defensive back Rickey Dixon, who had been battling ALS, died at the age of 53.

Dixon was a consensus All-American in 1987. During the same season, Dixon was named winner of the Jim Thorpe Award.

The award is annually given to the nation's top defensive back.

Dixon enjoyed a six-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals for five season before wrapping up his professional career with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1993.

News 9 Sports Director Dean Blevins interviewed Dixon back in 2012.
