The Oklahoma State Department of Health is expecting to get a shipment of about 48,000 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 33,000 boost vaccines sometime this week.

Health leaders in Oklahoma have administered more than 203,000 doses of the vaccine so far.

The state ranks eighth in the United States for the number of vaccines administered for every 100,000 people.

In Tulsa County, health leaders say vaccinations are going pretty smoothly.

The Tulsa Health Department said that staff are administering about 800 shots a day at its main clinic, but it hopes to ramp that number up this week.

Dr. Bruce Dart said Tulsa County is doing about 2,000 vaccinations each day, including nearby clinics.

Dr. Dart is asking that everyone continue to wear a mask and physical distance.

According to Dr. Dart, anyone who wants a shot will get a shot.

Health leaders say with more doses expected this week, the hope is to open additional appointments at each clinic.
