Tulsa Apartment Fire Displaces 60 Residents

Tulsa Apartment Fire Displaces 60 Residents

A fire at a Tulsa apartment complex Wednesday evening destroys a vacant apartment and displaces 60 residents.

The fire happened at the Leisure Manor Apartments in the 6900 block of East 15th Street at around 7:45 p.m.

Firefighters say the residents were displaced because electricity had to be shut off to the entire building in the complex.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire, but say maintenance workers had been working on wiring in the building. The fire started in the vacant apartment.

John Allen was in his apartment next door to the fire with his wife and child.

“It was kind of intense for a hot second but it seems like everybody’s OK. It’s really all that matters. Our apartments full of smoke and they said everything is probably pretty trashed," John Allen said.

Red Cross was called and is assisting those impacted by the fire.
