Local Nonprofit Uses Yoga To Help Veterans Struggling With Trauma

Kendra Guthrie, the executive director for Humble Warrior Collective, said for those struggling to heal from trauma, yoga can be a powerful resource.

Kendra joins us on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share more about how yoga can help veterans.

Kendra said that yoga can significantly help veterans and anyone else who may suffer from PTSD, depression, difficulty sleeping, trauma and anxiety.

Humble Warrior Collective offers one free, donation-based, community yoga class each week on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for veterans and anyone in the community. The class is held at the VFW 577, which is open to the public.

Kendra said she believes there is a mental health crisis in Oklahoma impacting children, teens and adults.

She said there is a science behind why yoga is so effective when it comes to working through mental health issues.

On Thursday, April 18, a fundraiser will be held to support Humble Warrior Collective's mission.

The Bloom Event Fundraiser will be at the VFW 577 located at 1109 East 6th Street in Tulsa. It will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The fundraiser will feature live music by local band Okra & the Universe, as well as a celebration of Humble Warrior Collective's successes and impact over the year.
