Crews Tear Down Gilcrease Museum In Steps Towards New Building

Crews are beginning the process of tearing down the Gilcrease Museum in a step towards constructing a brand new building.

Demolition started Janaury 26 on the north end of the museum where large parts of the building have already come down.

The museum said several additions to the original structure have been made over the years, but the building just isn’t up to code for museum standards.

The property is looking baron. The popular Sacred Rain Arrow statue that has been outside the front entrance for years has already been moved away.

This demolition will make way for a brand new Gilcrease Museum that will be nearly 100,000 square feet with an outdoor amphitheater, walking trails, and other upgrades.

Of course, this area is blocked off to the public for now, with the new museum coming sometime in late 2024.
