The American Association of Retired Persons held a townhall meeting over the phone Wednesday, to answer people's questions about the COVID-19 vaccinations specifically, people who are 65 and older, who are now eligible for the shots. 

Thousands of Oklahomans are waiting for their turn to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but the state says they don’t know how many doses of the vaccine Oklahoma will get, until they arrive. 

“So on a Tuesday, like yesterday, I learned how much we get in the state of Oklahoma and then we spend time on Tuesday figuring out where we’re going to allocate that vaccine across the state," said Mindy Spohn.

Mindy Spohn is Oklahoma's COVID-19 Vaccination Facilitator. She said the first step is to go online HERE. Then, you'll fill out several pages of questions about you and your health, including your name, address, and contact information. The state will send you an email, telling you when it's time for you to start trying to get an appointment, but, there are a limited number of time slots each week. 

“We have gotten in a little over 300,000 doses of vaccine and when you think of our population that’s close to four million we still have very limited supply. So that’s why there aren’t as many appointments as we want," said Spohn.

She said the best time to sign up for a time slot is Wednesday evening. People also asked what to do if they get an appointment time, but have no way to get there. Try calling 211 or LIFE Senior Services for help, their number is 918-664-9000.
